‘The Library of the Unwritten’ by A.J. Hackwith

This was absolutely inspired by Supernatural, most definitely.

SHOUTOUT TO ALL MY DESTIEL FANS, OUR HEARTS ARE BOTH HEALED AND BROKEN AND EVERYTHING HURTS.

So we follow Claire, the mortal librarian in charge of Hell’s library. Claire is black, which was surprising, as I thought this would be all white characters. So wrong. Thoroughly enjoyed that!

The library in hell is filled with all the unwritten books that authors have started but haven’t finished yet and sometimes the characters in these books like to escape and find their authors.

On the hunt for an escaped character, Claire is threatened by an agent of Heaven who believes Claire is on Earth to retrieve a deadly force and set out to start a war with Heaven, Hell and Earth.

Yo…. This book was so promising!

I loved Claire, Leto and Hero. I absolutely adored them.

I enjoyed that this book didn’t have a main love interest and all the bookish jokes which are referenced.

I did not enjoy the actual plot, like what was this? It felt like there was no actual substantial plot, I’m extremely disappointed.

I was very intrigued, expecting a big revelation towards the end and there really wasn’t.

The writing so-so, it was humorous in places and artful in others but just didn’t live up to the expectation. Especially for this book.

This book is beautiful though, ten out of ten for aesthetics.
